This study, commissioned by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) elicits the views of renewable heat installers registered with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
The study is part of a wider independent evaluation of the influential RHI which comes at an important time when the government is due to consult on potential changes in the coming months.
The process reveals opinions of the heating market and their interaction with customers, the influence the RHI has had on the installers market and the impact of the MCS scheme. The MCS holds information on a wide range of installers that serve the domestic and non-domestic markets.
The study presents how effectively the RHI scheme is delivering relative to its objectives and reveals findings which support its further development. Key insights from the research include:

- High costs and finance are fundamental barriers to the growth of renewable heating
