Refuse Derived Fuel Code of Practice for the UK

This Code of Practice (CoP) for the refuse derived fuel (RDF) supply chain has been published on behalf of the RDF Industry Group, a consortium comprising of a number of major waste management contractors and operators both from the UK and across Europe.

The CoP was written by Eunomia, as Secretariat to the RDF Industry Group, and it sets out a framework that shares good practice across the industry, to increase the confidence of customers and regulators in processes and products.

The CoP covers the following stages of the supply chain:

  1. Waste arrives at transfer station;
  2. Pre-treatment of waste;
  3. Preparation for transport;
  4. Storage;
  5. Transportation;
  6. Loading;
  7. Export;
  8. Unloading;
  9. Transportation;
  10. Further pre-treatment; and
  11. Received at recovery facility.

The Group has developed a logo to go alongside the CoP that Members can display so they can be recognised by those operating in the RDF export supply chain, the Group also supports the use of the CoP by the wider industry.

Those interested in finding more about the RDF Industry Group can contact the secretariat by emailing: rdfindustrygroup@eunomia.co.uk
