Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standard for London’s LACW 2017

This study, commissioned by the Greater London Authority (GLA), models two new standards that Local Authorities in London should meet when managing waste-related Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

The research has been used to update the city’s Emissions Performance Standard (EPS) on Local Authority Collected Waste (LACW) and the Carbon Intensity Floor (CIF) target, a measure of emissions from waste to energy infrastructure. The modelling was based on updated data on waste arisings, and took account of waste management challenges specific to London.

This research has been used in the Draft London Environment Strategy published on 11th August 2017 that aims to make London zero-carbon by 2050.
