About Local Government Reorganisation:

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is the process of replacing England’s two-tier council system, where county and district councils share responsibilities, with a single-tier unitary authorities. Timelines for implementation vary between areas, with some authorities such as Surrey already set on reorganisation arrangements while other authorities are still going through public consultation before a formal decision is made on reorganisation arrangements. Most new unitary councils are expected to be in place by 2028. From that date, all council services including waste services will be provided by the new unitary councils.

What you will learn:

  • What Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is and what it could mean for your council
  • What the key LGR considerations are when planning future waste service delivery, including procurement, in‑house models and LATCos
  • What considerations are critical to planning and delivering a robust waste services procurement in the context of LGR
  • What the practical LGR considerations are for managing a live waste contract

Who should attend:

  • Local Authorities procurement teams
  • Local Authorities waste teams
  • Local Authorities in-house lawyers

Duration:

1-hour, including a 10min Q&A session. Attend live to participate in and hear the Q&A. A recording will be shared of the presentation following the event. You may also email questions in advance to eunomiamarketing@eunomia.co.uk by no later than 5pm GMT on Friday 26th June 2026.
