Welcome to the Beverage Container Reuse Advisor powered by
This tool, developed in partnership with the Meridian Institute, is built to empower Meridian’s Reuse & Refill Action Forum members as the first step on a journey to understanding the environmental and financial impacts of introducing a beverage container reuse system.
The tool focuses on non-alcoholic retail beverages sold in the United States. The modeled reuse/refill system is based on a ‘pre-filled’ retail beverage container system that provides the beverage directly to the consumer. This excludes dispensing methods that use reusable cups or other ‘back-end’ reusable vessels with which the consumer does not interact.

The User Guide, available for download here, offers supplemental data, assumptions, and modeling rationale to help users understand how the tool’s results are calculated. While the tool itself outlines inputs and key assumptions, the User Guide provides a more detailed explanation of how the inputs influence the calculations in the modeled system and the justification behind key assumptions.
