Scoping Study for a Route Map to a Circular Economy in London

This scoping study informed a route map for the city of London to transition to a Circular Economy – an economy that designs out waste.

The final route map London The Circular Economy Capital is available online here.

The study was commissioned by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB) and includes a range of suggested measures, following consultation with stakeholders and workshop discussions. The report includes an implementation plan with suggested measures and recommended sequencing and timing. Several measures cut across sectors, others have been developed for specific industries, such as:

  • local authority collected wastes;
  • the commercial sector;
  • the construction sector;
  • the reuse sector; and
  • education.

The study also details policies outside of London’s competence.
