Decarbonisation of Single Use Beverage Packaging

Our latest report for Zero Waste Europe analyses the decarbonisation pathways for single-use drinks packaging, namely glass, PET (plastic) and aluminium.

Following on from our work looking at global materials we now turn our attention to the product level, how do they stack up against each other and align with the Paris Agreement?

We project that all three materials will significantly overshoot their share of the carbon budget, we don’t just need to decarbonise it’s equally important to reduce how much material we are using.

This will require the adoption of circular economy principles which break the link between material demand, resource use and economic growth.
