On Friday 27 June, our team took part in the Waste World Cup – the waste industry’s biggest sporting event since 2003.

The six-a-side mixed-gender football tournament, hosted by letsrecycle.com and supporting WasteAid, kicked off this year at Beaconsfield Rugby Club.

We joined 40 teams in what was a hotly contested event that saw LondonEnergy pluck the crown from last year’s winners Recorra.

While we didn’t reach the finals this year (unlike our Bristol squad did in 2024), the team reported it was a fun day in the sun filled with tasty barbecue food and a round of well-earned drinks to cool off afterwards.

John Richardson, one of our consultants who has been a regular at the event said: “It was a great day out with the team, we had a blast! Everyone played incredibly well, and we fought hard until the end of every game. We didn’t win a trophy, but the day was certainly a success. Well done to everyone that took part!”
