Eunomia partnered with Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership on a Getting Started Programme for Bristol-based SMEs looking to kick-start their action on climate and reduce emissions. Sessions were designed to help organisations across the city, ranging from local coffee roasters to architects, understand their climate impacts, and take practical steps toward Net Zero. Our team designed and delivered the workshops and provided expert support and resources for attendees.

The sessions ran from April 2025 to July 2025, focusing on:

  • Jargon busting and demystification (access the summary here)
  • Measuring and monitoring carbon footprints (access the summary here
  • Creating a climate action plan and setting targets (access the summary here

Attendees gained a wide range of knowledge, from core information on why climate science matters to actionable steps they can take to make climate action plans a reality.

Our Low Carbon Economy Lead, Charlie Leaman-Pearce, who played a leading role in delivering the sessions, said:

“Supporting Bristol’s small businesses on their Net Zero journeys has been incredibly rewarding. We designed this programme to cut through the jargon and give people practical tools to take meaningful action – whether they’re roasting coffee or designing buildings. Seeing such a diverse range of businesses engage so actively, ask the right questions, and leave with a clear plan for reducing their emissions has been hugely motivating.”

Claire Jacob, Head of Communications and Partnerships at BCNP, said:

“It’s been an absolute pleasure collaborating with Eunomia across several initiatives aimed at helping businesses decarbonise, including Climate Surgeries and the Getting Started programme. Their deep expertise and broad experience working with diverse organisations are evident in everything they do. What truly stands out is their ability to tailor support with precision to meet each business’s unique needs. On top of that, they’re consistently reliable, clear communicators, and simply a joy to work with.”

Participants provided their own feedback. Katharine O’Dwyer, Sustainability & Compliance Lead at Extract Coffee, said:

“I really enjoyed how the session was linked into practical actions. It was great to see that session was moving on from the theory climate change to how you can use the knowledge to make change.”

Mona Lindell of Spratley & Partners Architects said:

“The workshop was so insightful and educational for someone who is really mostly a novice in this subject. It’s especially nice to be able to share knowledge and collective thinking with other businesses outside of your own industry as well.”

We will be offering the programme for Bristol businesses again in 2026.
