Join us for a live webinar hosted by sustainability consultancy Eunomia and packaging innovation agency Touch where you’ll learn how to overcome some of the key challenges brands face when designing for recyclability (DfR)

Register for the webinar here.

Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements are now in force, meaning that from 2030, all packaging sold in the EU must meet strict recyclability performance standards. Meanwhile, a new UK pEPR and supporting Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM) have been launched in the UK, and several US states are implementing their own pEPR regulations.

About the webinar

During our webinar Closing the loop: Designing for Recyclability (DfR), you will learn how businesses across FMCG, retail, and related sectors can approach designing packaging for recyclability, in line with mandated PPWR requirements.

The session will offer expert policy guidance and advice (Eunomia) alongside innovative packaging inspiration (Touch) – outlining three key design opportunities: Understanding the potential, Rethinking convention, and Finding future alternatives.

The webinar will also highlight:

  • Why brands need to design for recyclability (PPWR)
  • Risks of non-compliance
  • How packaging design consultancy Touch and sustainability consultancy Eunomia can support brands with design strategies for recyclable packaging

Hear from packaging design and sustainability experts as they share innovative packaging solutions and case studies that align with recyclability requirements – from design and materials, to reporting documentation and supplier coordination.

About Designing for Recyclability (DfR)

By 2030 all packaging sold in the EU must meet strict recyclability performance standards due to mandated requirements in the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR). Designing packaging for recyclability will no longer be optional – it will be a requirement for market access. Businesses will need to prove compliance through packaging assessments and clear documentation.

The UK is also moving in a similar direction and has recently launched Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM). Meanwhile in the US several states are implementing their own pEPR regulations.

With final guidance still evolving, our sustainability experts, who developed the research which informed the PPWR, can help your business future proof any packaging decisions and investments.

Whether you’re already working towards designing for recyclability, or just beginning the process, this session will give you clarity and expert insights from the teams whose research informed the regulations themselves and currently advise some of the world’s biggest brands.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to translate packaging regulations into actionable steps around packaging design.
  • What key challenges brands frequently face when aligning existing packaging with new/future requirements, and what potential solutions are available.
  • What packaging options are both compliant and future-proof.
  • How to navigate supplier demands and documentation requirements in relation to packaging regulations.
  • How to incorporate recycled content into packaging types without compromising performance or brand.
  • How to take inspiration from innovative packaging solutions and case studies that meet PPWR requirements.
