Three senior consultants at Eunomia – Daniel Card, Lucy Eggleston and Will Proud – have received this year’s prestigious 35 Under 35 Awards for their trailblazing work in the environmental sector. These awards recognise their professional excellence, vision, creativity and determination to advance sustainability goals.

Lucy, Will and Daniel received the award along with 32 others working in sustainability, energy, construction, water management and waste and recycling. Niamh Harris of Thalia Waste Management and Darren Forster of Biogen UK were named as the top two.

Emma Tilbrook, Head of Implementation at Eunomia, said: “It’s fantastic to see the breadth of talent within our business recognised. Daniel, Lucy and Will all demonstrate the development and growth opportunities we aim to offer at Eunomia. Their impact internally within our business and externally in finding the right solutions for their clients is undeniable. Well done, Daniel, Lucy and Will!”

Daniel Card is a leading collections modeller with encyclopaedic knowledge of waste collection, impacts of change, deposit return systems and extended producer responsibility. He was pivotal in developing Eunomia’s bespoke software Hermes, the most detailed baselining and options modelling tool of any in the UK.

Daniel’s modelling work for over 60 UK local authorities has identified how they can save millions of pounds and significantly boost environmental benefits from recycling. He has worked with several US states on the launch of deposit return and extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes. He has also used his analytical skills and waste flow modelling insights to advise Defra on ways to determine effectiveness and efficiency under packaging EPR.

Daniel said: “I’m honoured to be recognised as one of the 35 under 35 in waste management. It’s a testament to the meaningful work we do at Eunomia, and I’m fortunate to work with such talented colleagues on a daily basis.”

Lucy Eggleston specialises in providing innovative, science-based, strategic support to global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies to improve their environmental impacts. She combines deep technical knowledge with skills in communication and strategic thinking to support FMCG corporations at the intersection between legislation, technical development and strategy.

Lucy applies her understanding of materials and process – drawn from a background in mechanical engineering and materials research – to identify interventions and design changes that will make a difference to many products we use every day. She leads workshops with senior stakeholders, translates technical insights into digestible content and facilitates cross-functional teams to make major decisions.

Lucy said: “I’m very grateful to receive this award and for the opportunity to make a difference to the sustainability of consumer goods through my work at Eunomia.”

Will Proud focuses on life cycle assessment and carbon accounting, as well as generating new business in both areas. He led the delivery of two large, published sector reports for the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, investigating the resource efficiency of UK industrial sectors. He also contributed to a study of the environmental impacts of single-use vapes, which the Scottish and English governments cited in banning the sale and supply of these.

Will completed his PhD in Advanced Composites at the University of Bristol, which involved developing an algorithm that optimised against environmental factors. He has disseminated his research at international and industry conferences.

Will said: “I’ve greatly enjoyed contributing to projects that I hope will make a small, yet positive impact on the UK’s journey towards reducing material consumption.”
