Feedstock Quality Guidelines for Pyrolysis of Plastic Waste

Eunomia Research and Consulting was commissioned by the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (Alliance) to define plastic waste quality guidelines for use in pyrolysis chemical recycling.

Pyrolysis is the process of breaking down plastic waste (feedstock) through exposure to extreme heat that creates new raw material for use as building blocks for new plastics or fuels.

This report aims to serve as a starting point for inclusive conversations about the quality of feedstock pyrolysis operators require and what systems need to be developed to support those requirements.

It can also assist the understanding of advanced recycling’s role alongside mechanical recycling and help inform packaging design decisions and circular economy strategies of the supply chain.
